Marching youth bands are an important part of our cultural heritage. Bands range in style between traditional parade units, to interpretative bands that integrate manoeuvre and costumed dance into their arena shows. For most of the 30,000 young people involved our community arts activity is their only opportunity to experience performing live instrumental music. Based in local communities, marching bands involve and represent their local areas, supporting social cohesion and strengthening community identity. And, the best part is that it’s fun!
The Federation works with its member organisations to bring ‘added value’ to the activity, developing and applying agreed strategic priorities. The whole activity is totally voluntary.
